The difference between a Guest User and a Subscriber

To view any of the news articles at CollisionWeek you must first register with the site.  There are two different types of registered users:

Free Guest User:  This type of registration costs nothing and will grant you access to the free daily news on CollisionWeek for the current day and up to 4 calendar days old, but will not allow you to view the Subscriber only content of the site, or the news archives.

Subscriber:  If you are a subscriber to CollisionWeek you will not only have access to all the daily news on the site, you will also gain access to exclusive feature stories found no where else, and CollisionWeek research about the industry and the attitudes of the people in it, including video Interviews of the people that affect our industry.

Subscribers also have access to our searchable news archive containing thousands of news stories and features. Looking for information on a specific person or company in this industry?  Perhaps a piece of legislation that has been in the news?  CollisionWeek is the place to find it.

Depending on the subscription type you choose, you will also begin receiving the published weekly version of CollisionWeek, which is delivered by email (in Adobe Acrobat format), FAX or First Class Mail (Printed Edition).

Subscriptions are available on a yearly basis, and the cost varies by the type of subscription you choose; Printed Version, Fax Version, Adobe Acrobat Version, or Web Version. Click here for pricing and online subscription forms.

Solutions to common Log In problems.

Log in problems by our users are most commonly caused by one of the following issues beginning with the simplest problems first.  Please review each one if you are having a problem logging in.

If you are a current paid Subscriber but receive the Subscribers Only message: this is typically NOT a log in issue and you should contact administrator@collisionweek

If you are getting Invalid Log in Error

Possible Problem: Incorrect Username
Solution: Make sure you are entering your full email address as your username ie: yourname@yourisp.com, this will be the same email address you used when you originally registered for CollisionWeek, as well as the e-mail address that your News Updates are delivered to.

Possible Problem: Incorrect Password
Solution: If you think you might have the wrong password, click on Forgot Your Password? on the log in screen (or click here) and your correct password will be automatically e-mailed to your registered email address.

Possible Problem: Improper User Access Level
Solution: If you are a Guest User, make sure you are not trying to read a story that is for Subscribers only.
() Many pages are only available to our paying Subscribers. As a Free Guest User, you are not able to read these pages, even if you ARE correctly logged in and registered. Trying to do so will bring up the Subscribers Only Page and prompt you to become a subscriber. You can become a subscriber for a little as $79.00 per year.

If you would like to upgrade your registration from Guest User to Subscriber, see the section entitled "How do I change from being a Guest User to a Subscriber?"

Possible Problem: Improper Browser Security Settings
Solution: Temporary Cookies (sometimes called Session Cookies) must be enabled to allow you to access the CollisionWeek website. Temporary cookies are automatically erased after twenty minutes of inactivity or whenever you close your browser.

If session cookies (or temporary cookies) are disabled you cannot log in to the CollisionWeek web site.  To determine if this may be the case, the following information is provided:

Visit the following site: www.cyscape.com/showbrow.asp

Be patient, that page can sometimes take a minute or two to come up as it is testing your browser's settings.

When the page comes up, look under the Browser Security section. In the table and you must see the following:

SessionCookies: this must say True
PersistentCookies: this may say True or False

If Persistent = False only the auto login feature of CollisionWeek will not work, however if the SessionCookies = False, CollisionWeek will not function at all, preventing you from logging in to CollisionWeek.

If this is the problem, you must change the security settings in your browser to allow Session (or temporary) cookies. This should be found in either the security or privacy settings of your browser depending on the browser you use.

None of the Above: If you have ruled out all of the above errors and you continue to have trouble, send us an email with the e-mail address you are registered under, and include specific details about the trouble you are having so we can resolve your problem ASAP.

Please let us know any error messages you receive as well as the page you are attempting to view when you get the error.
